Environmental Statement

It’s the responsibility of all of us to protect the environment that sustains us. For my part, through my work as an artist, I aim to address my impact on the environment in the following ways…
-
Letting No Paint Go To Waste.
This includes mixing leftover paints to create new colours, correctly storing paints to use for future use, and sharing paints with other artists who may have a use for them.
-
Caring For Equipment.
Correctly cleaned brushes, roller heads, and roller trays can be used multiple times. I have developed good work practices to ensure my equipment is cared for.
-
Rain Harvesting
I have installed a rain harvesting barrel at my home studio to collect rainwater from my roof. This is the water I use to clean my brushes, trays, etc. By giving preference to water-based paints in my projects, I largely avoid using solvent-based paints or cleaners
-
Reusable Materials
To minimise waste generated, preference is always given to reusable materials. This means choosing cloth drop sheets over plastic sheets, good quality paint trays and pots over cheap alternatives, and avoiding single-use plastics.
-
Leaving No Trace
My work often involves painting murals outdoors in a variety of urban and rural settings. I am committed to ensuring that the only trace I leave behind is the artwork I have created. This means taking only what is necessary on-site when painting and removing everything at the end of the day.
